About DebateUS

Founded in by Stefan Bauschard in 2015, DebateUS offers an exceptional speech and debate education to students from around the world.  Our mission is simple: To provide the best instruction and argument development support available so that students will experience both competitive success and be prepared for any career they choose in law, politics, science, academia, or industry. Our contributors bring decades of experience and competitive success to their work with students to help them meet their competitive goals.

Our program of free and subscription-based instructional materials, summer camps, and online courses are all developed to enable you to be the best debater and person that you can be. We look forward to working with you during your time as a student or coach. 

Stefan Bauschard: Stefan Bauschard (resume) has been active in speech and debate for 37 years. He has established debate programs in more than seven countries and has built a large online instruction platform with more than 40 teachers that provides debate instruction for hundreds of students all over the world and manages an instructional services website that supports more than 15,000 students and teachers. He co-founded the Harvard Debate Council Summer Workshops, the Georgetown PF workshop, the Georgetown PF tournament, the Georgetown International PF and Vancouver tournaments, and the Silver Division of the Tournament of Champions (TOC). He also created the Middle School TOC, the international breakout divisions of NSDA nationals, the TOC, Harvard, and Stanford, and grew his own Lakeland tournament in New York from 100 participants in 2005 to 1, 100 participants, including many UDL schools, in 2020. He has taught and directed summer debate camps for more than 20 years. Over the last 10 years, he has worked with the New York City Urban Debate League (NYCUDL) to improve tournament management, quality of instruction, and has worked with all of the league’s employees to advance the mission. Most recently, Stefan has been very active in moving the debate community online in this time of difficulty. He has experience constructing e-buildings, moving the national championship tournaments and helping transition the NYCUDL to an online world
