Does the attack on Pelosi’s husband prove the US is at-risk of political violence?

On the night of October 28, 2022 an assailant broke into Nancy Pelosi’s California home and assaulted her husband, Pau,l with a hammer, forcing him into surgery.  All reports indicate that the assailant was looking for Nancy Pelosi, the current Speaker of the House and third in line for the Presidency.

The incident raises serious questions related to threats of violence against politicians in the United States. Is this an isolated incident involving mentally unstable individual or does it suggest a greater threat of political violence?
